Question about aftermarket cdi

I recently put an aftermarket performance cdi on my atv. I gained alot of power but ever since I added the part the starter seems to drag when i try to crank it. It will crank but the starter struggles. Ive changed the battery so thats not the problem. Can anyone help me.

First make sure that the battery has enough power to push the starter properly. If so, I recommend checking the charging system to make sure that the new cdi is not draining from the charging system…. stator…. regulator rectifier… etc. If all of those are ok then the aftermarket cdi may have been assembled under the assumption that it needs x amount of volts to turn the starter and was built to pull only the bare minimum. Will it harm it in the long run? Hard to say but if your able to find OEM parts for this machine which, to my understanding, may be harder to find than most. At any rate… hope this hepls and best of luck.
