What does showing a professional driver driving on a closed road prove about how a car handles in real life?
If car companies really want to impress people then why don’t they show commercials of the car being driven in actual traffic instead of closed off roads? After all, most drivers are neither professsional nor do they have access to a closed course so what good do commmercials showing what a professional driver on a closed course can do?
The aim is to show the car’s capabilities under extreme situations. Any car in production can accelerate, turn, and brake under normal driving circumstances, but these displays show that the car can perform in more extreme circumstances, such as accident avoidance scenarios.
